Extra recommendations for candle use:
When extinguishing a candle, use a wick dipper instead of blowing the candle out or a snuffer. Dipping the wick in the wax almost completely eliminates smoke (also less soot) when extinguishing the candle.
In my tests of burning candles, trimming wicks each time before burning greatly reduces smoke, soot, and even soot on the container itself. Trimming helps control the size of the flame. If the flame is too large, you need to trim!
